Embracing Growth: My Journey from the Stage to the Classroom
Feb 18, 2024Transitioning from the stage to the classroom was a transformative experience, filled with challenges and rewards. Here are three key takeaways from my journey:
📚 Continuous Learning: Pursuing a Master's in Dance Education (M.A.D.E.) at UNCG Greensboro was a pivotal decision that expanded my knowledge and skills in dance education. This experience not only helped me achieve my career goals but also deepened my understanding of dance pedagogy.
👩🏾🤝👩🏻 The Power of Connection: My cohort of 12 incredible women from diverse backgrounds became more than just classmates; we formed a supportive community bonded by our shared passion for dance and life. Building meaningful relationships with peers and mentors enriched my learning journey and provided invaluable support during challenging times.
👨🏾💻 Embracing Technology: Integrating technology into the curriculum, guided by mentors like Kali Parker, a technology specialist with Atlanta Public Schools, proved instrumental in adapting to unforeseen challenges such as the pandemic. Learning to leverage tools like Google Workspace not only enhanced teaching efficiency but also fostered connections and well-being in a virtual environment.
In hindsight, I realized that the relationships forged and skills acquired during my journey have lasting impacts, highlighting the importance of embracing growth and fostering meaningful connections in both personal and professional spheres.
